I paid a visit to the Winter Art Market at Buffalo Institute for Contemporary Art (BICA) last year, when it was held at the Essex Art Center. Att the time, Wavy (way2wavybaby), one of the show’s avid supporters, told me, “BICA School’s Art Market is the perfect spot to shop small and buy local this holiday season. Jewelry, prints, paintings, apparel, pottery, vintage, and more hand crafted by Buffalo’s cutting edge artisans- all under one roof.”
Being an avid supporter of local artists and artisans, I stopped by the art market with my buddy Richie Hunter, a local milliner. Between the two of us, we found an assortment of special gifts for friends and family, and even walked away with a couple of hand-knit balaclavas by Wavy herself. I’ve had so many people comment on my balaclava that I’m thinking about heading back again this year, to see what other selections Wavy will have onhand.
The 2024 event is two days, December 7th & 8th from 11am-5pm both days. It will take place at The Temporary Contemporary, a new location of ours at 777 Main Street in the Sidway Building.
“The perfect spot to shop small and buy local this holiday season with jewelry, prints, paintings, apparel, pottery, vintage and more, from over 20 different vendors and artisans!” – Wavy
