JD Vance hits out at new target in latest social media rant

JD Vance has taken to social media to share his thoughts on the judge who has temporarily blocked US President Donald Trump from placing 2,200 workers at the US Agency for International Development (USAID) on paid leave.

Just hours before this was due to happen, Judge Carl Nichols issued a “limited” temporary restraining order”, which will remain in place for one week – much to the frustration of Trump and his team.

The judge stated: “All USAID employees currently on administrative leave shall be reinstated until that date, and shall be given complete access to email, payment, and security notification systems until that date, and no additional employees shall be placed on administrative leave before that date.”

Vance responded to this news by taking aim at the judge’s decision, describing it as “illegal”, insisting that the decision should be overturned.

He wrote: “If a judge tried to tell a general how to conduct a military operation, that would be illegal. If a judge tried to command the attorney general in how to use her discretion as a prosecutor, that’s also illegal. Judges aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power.”

Vance has been no stranger to controversy since being named as Trump’s running mate towards the end of 2024, with some still questioning whether or not he was the right pick to be VP.

He upset some people on his own party’s side when it emerged he had dressed up in drag at least twice, while he has also made some controversial comments about transgender people in recent months.

In the summer of 2024, Vance was slammed for claiming that Haitian immigrants were ‘eating pets’ in Springfield, Ohio.

This decision in particular was seen as particularly offensive, considering his wife Usha comes from a family of immigrants from India.
