Things To Do: Art exhibits, ‘Snow Queen’ ballet, women’s history project in Westport

“What do you want to do?”

If you need an answer to this age-old question for making plans, we’ve got you covered.

In Things To Do, we take a look at, well, things to do, happening every week in the Greater Fall River area and around the SouthCoast.

From weekdays to weekends, there’s always plenty going on.

And we’re not only taking a look at what’s happening this week, we’re also giving you a heads up for events that are coming soon.

This week, we’ve got a night of art and jazz at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, plus other events for art lovers, like an exhibit at The Ignition Space in Fall River, and a chance to learn more about an artist’s photographs of the Northern Lights at the New Bedford Art Museum. Plus, we’ve got concerts, plays, a musical, a film screening, and a fairy-tale ballet. We’ve even got an exhibit for Women’s History Month, celebrating some of the women of Westport Point.

So when someone asks you what you want to do, you’ve got your plans ready to go.

Here are Things To Do around Fall River, the SouthCoast, and beyond this week:

The New Bedford Whaling Museum, 18 Johnny Cake Hill, is continuing its First Friday series on March 7, with an evening of art, history, and live entertainment.

At 6 p.m., Jason Smith’s Hot Club Cheese Roll sextet will be playing gypsy jazz, a style pioneered by legends like Django Reinhardt. Normally a quartet, they’ll be a six-piece ensemble for this performance, featuring Jason Smith (guitar), John Birt (guitar), Mark Russell (violin), Albert Behar (accordion), Casey Belisle (drums), and Tanner McMullen (upright bass).

This is an adults-only event, and guests can sip on cocktails and mocktails from the cash bar, while enjoying complimentary light bites throughout the night.

Tickets are $10 for museum members, and $20 for the general public.
