The lineup of the 2025 River City Soul Fest will include a widely acclaimed rhythm and blues artist.
Singer-songwriter Donell Jones is scheduled to perform Aug. 2 at Peoria’s annual celebration of soul and rhythm and blues music on the Peoria Riverfront.
In his 30-year career, the Chicago native has collaborated with rappers Big Pun and Fat Joe and hip-hop duo Clipse. His professional accolades include a 2000 American Music Award in the Favorite Soul/R&B New Artist category, plus nominations for a Black Reel Award, a Soul Train Award and a MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Award.
Jones’ song “U Know What’s Up,” from his 1999 album “Where I Wanna Be” was a top 10 Hit on Billboard’s Hot 100 and rose to No. 1 on the Hot R&B chart for eight consecutive weeks. James’ album was certified platinum in 2000 by the Recording Industry Association of America for selling over one million copies.
