DCU co-head and Superman director James Gunn explained in a new interview how he’s been sharing regular updates on social media whilst working multiple jobs. Gunn has active accounts on multiple social media platforms where he interacts with fans.
James Gunn says his social networking is handled by ‘other people’
James Gunn discussed his social media activities in a new and detailed interview with Entertainment Weekly. He revealed that while “other people” handle his social media networking, the thoughts and statements come from him.
When asked how he compartmentalized between his various jobs, Gunn noted, “Listen, a lot of my social networking is done by other people. It’s always me, it’s always my words, but a lot of times there’s other people that are posting it. And a lot of other times, other people are bringing me questions offline from online, and I’ll answer them and send them those answers.”
The filmmaker also mentioned that sometimes when he is traveling long distances via an airplane or a car, he takes to Threads to answer questions from fans. He added, “You can see when I’m actually doing that, because there’ll be like five, six answers in a row about once every three weeks.”
In the same interview, Gunn spoke about when he feels it necessary to debunk rumors about DCU projects. He mentioned that he has “mostly quit” doing it because of how frequently these rumors circulate and said there are scoopers “who have pretty large followings who just consistently put out false stories, just one after the other after the other, 95 percent of the time.”
However, the filmmaker spoke about addressing rumors that could hurt “someone’s feelings.” He said, “For instance, if there’s a director we’re talking to about a project and all of a sudden it comes out a story that so-and-so other director who has nothing to do with anything is doing this project, you want to kill that pretty quickly because it’s not true.”
