Miss Ruth’s Time Bomb in Carlisle and the Charles Bruce Foundation are collecting feminine hygiene products and artwork during the Valentine’s Day weekend and holiday to support YWCA Carlisle & Cumberland County.
From Feb. 10 to Feb. 14, residents can donate period products and other essentials at Miss Ruth’s Time Bomb at 24 N. Hanover St. in Carlisle.
“Miss Ruth’s Time Bomb is partnering with the Charles Bruce Foundation for the period product and toiletry drive to benefit that YWCA Pad Pantry, which provides expensive products to teens and adults in need, free of charge,” said Sarah Taby, owner of Miss Ruth’s. “Together we are hoping to prevent what can already be a physically taxing time from becoming a financially taxing one, too.”
“YWCA Carlisle & Cumberland County provides period products, both disposable and renewable – free of charge – to middle and high schools locally. We hear from guidance counselors and teachers that the needs continue to rise,” said Maddie Young, president and CEO of YWCA. “Although we replenish the supplies at local schools often, it’s challenging to continue to meet those needs. YWCACCC also provides a pad pantry inside the lobby of our offices at 301 G Street, Carlisle, where anyone can stop in to pick up the free supplies that they need – no questions asked. This is a critical need for so many in our community.”

In addition to the period products, the Charles Bruce Foundation is getting involved in collecting artwork, or “Palentines” as it calls it, to continue its mission to support the arts, especially arts for social justice, according to foundation board member Chris Kapp.
