2024 Art Business Idea Competition now accepting entries

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Jonathan Gangi, professor of music and arts entrepreneurship is now accepting entries for the 2024 Arts Business Idea Competition.

The competition is the College of Arts and Architecture’s annual showcase of arts entrepreneurship that asks students to present an arts-based business plan that could earn entrants up to $5,000 to develop the concept.

The competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students from any major and any Penn State campus. The only requirement is that the business concept is arts-based.  Free-lance, non-profit, for profit, hybrid, and small or large-scale ideas are welcome.

To begin the entry process, applicants should inform Gangi of their intent to enter the competition by sending an email to jjg27@psu.edu. Then they should submit a PDF document of their business plan to Gangi via email by 11:59 p.m. on March 1. Finalists will be announced via email by March 11.

During the final round, which will be held at a time and place to be determined, finalists will make a presentation to a panel of judges.

The first-place winner will receive $5,000, second-place will receive $2,500 and third-place will receive $1,500.
