Baton Rouge night market celebrates Asian culture with art, food

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – If you missed the first night market in Baton Rouge, it’s back and bigger this year. The event brings Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and other Asian art, food and entertainment together to celebrate Asian culture and bring in the Lunar New Year, the year of the Dragon!

Curator of the event Laura Siu Nguyen said she didn’t expect the massive turnout the event received in its first year which has caused a location change this year.

“You can expect 32 food vendors, 10 art vendors, gonna have somebody doing caricatures, face painting. It’s going to be a kid-friendly event,” said Nguyen.

Nguyen worked closely with the Downtown Development District and Visit Baton Rouge to make it happen. This year’s event will feature over 40 vendors with cultural dishes to try, a Lion Dance, music and more.

One of the vendors included is Chai Tai Lao, a local Thai restaurant that just celebrated its first anniversary in business. The event puts many other local businesses in the limelight.

Night Market BTR will be on from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9 at Rhorer Plaza, 200 S. River Road. Click here for more information.
