Chicago teaching artist helping young women through the power of giving

CHICAGO — A Chicago woman with a passion for serving the community is helping young women navigate forward through the power of giving.

Clarybelle Camacho is the founder of “a Beautiful Project,” a women’s group in Chicago that works to create a welcoming space for women of all ages.

They connect through faith, volunteer work, workshops and fine arts.

Clarybelle Camacho is known for always giving back. She runs coat drives, prom dress drives, and gives out blessing bags to the homeless.

Camacho said she doesn’t think she’s remarkable, just blessed that she had other matriarchs to show her the way.

This year, Camacho is encouraging Beautiful Project members to do something her own mom, taught her, to write a loving letter to themselves, to be opened one year from now.

Camacho said she didn’t see herself being named a finalist when she penned her own letter last year, but she did predict a movement of “beautiful things.”

Her dedication to helping the community has landed her a nomination for the Remarkable Women campaign.

March is Women’s History Month and Nexstar and WGN are recognizing the great contributions women have made in our community. Throughout the month, four finalists for the 2024 Woman of the Year award will be highlighted.
