New owners plan changes to Rehfeld’s Art & Framing

March 18, 2024

New owners have a slightly new name and vision for a staple of the Sioux Falls arts scene.

Sioux Falls natives Lindsey McCann and Micah Jastram purchased the downtown art gallery and framing business Rehfeld’s Art & Framing in late 2023 from Jerry Cook, who bought it from Larry Rehfeld in 2019.

The new owners have renovated the space at 431 N. Phillips Ave. and have renamed the business Rehfelds Modern Fine Art & Framing to focus on contemporary art from emerging and established artists.

McCann and Jastram bring experience in the gallery and framing space as they also own and operate Old Main Gallery & Framing in Bozeman, Montana.

“Often, folks may be intimidated to enter an art gallery because they ‘don’t understand art.’ We want to break down the walls between viewer and artist,” McCann said. “Art can and should be approachable. As a member of the art community, we are excited to continue to build relationships with local businesses and support other art galleries to further enrich the community. There is so much going on in our neighborhood, and we are excited to be a part of it.”

A grand opening is scheduled for April 5.

The business sale also included The Underground, an event venue and secondary gallery space in the lower level of the building.
