Family and friends mourn loss of artist, social media influencer, & a Peoria ‘music scene legend” Shun ‘Best Kept’ Williams

PEORIA (25News Now) – The sudden passing of Shun “Best Kept” Williams, a beloved local musician, has left the community in shock and grief. Williams, 41, passed away at his home late Monday night, surrounded by his family, from a possible heart attack.

A graduate of Richwoods High School in 2002, Williams leaves behind his fiancée and partner of nine years, Sharece Yearian, and five children – two boys and three girls. His family, speaking to 25News shares his vibrant presence.

Williams began his musical journey while a kid in church attending Faith Ministries, along with his dozens of male cousins, according to his aunt, Montina McClain.

Described as a major social media influencer with his almost 5,000 followers on Facebook, Williams was known for his funny posts, infectious smile and jovial nature.

Yearian reminisced, “If you were mad, he’d make you happy or give you something to laugh about. Never a dull moment around him.” She emphasized his deep love for God, family, and music, noting his unwavering commitment to his faith since childhood.

Yearian fondly recalled Williams’s passion for music, describing him as an extraordinary artist who pursued his dreams with fervor and dedication. “Music was his passion. He loved to perform and get on that stage, doing what he does best in his element,” she said.

Williams’s impact extended beyond his immediate circle; he was recognized in the music community for his talent and dedication.

His longtime friend and music manager, Dee Mill, fondly recalls Williams’s humility and dedication to his craft. Mill praised Williams’s classic album, “Lisa’s Youngest Boy,” which garnered widespread acclaim and headlined at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

Known for his collaborations and tours with underground artists like King Louie, Mickey Factz, the Founder of Pendulum Inc., and No Fatigue, Williams had recently released one of his first solo songs. He was also a finalist in the Royalty of the Mic in 2023, demonstrating his prowess as an independent artist.

Despite his passing, Mill emphasized that Williams’s musical legacy lives on through unreleased content and his influence on younger musicians in Peoria.

Despite his sudden departure from what the family believes was a heart attack, Williams was diligent in managing his health, regularly attending his routine doctor appointments and taking his medication regimen for high blood pressure.

His family attested to his clean lifestyle, affirming that he never smoked, or drank alcohol nor did he even want to try it.

Funeral arrangements for Shun R. Williams are pending.
