As part of the ELLE Beauty Awards 2024 program, the ‘Her Story: Women in Art’ exhibition, featuring 16 artworks by diverse female artists, was showcased at the residence of the French consul general in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday.
Leaning even further into the theme of women’s artistic feats, this exhibition was curated by Mani Foundation, a private art organization founded and run by three women.
Seven artists participated in the expo, producing a total of 12 multimedia paintings and four sculptures inspired by women’s beauty.
These seven artists are Mai Minh Hang, Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Nguyen Thi Thanh Luu, Nguyen Thi Hoa, Nguyen Thi Chau Giang, Alix Aymé, and Cristina González Martín.

Artist Mai Minh Hang was once a lawyer but she turned to pursuing art at the age of 47.
Even without the advantage of an early start, Hang fell in love with art and created many works in a short time.
For the exhibition, Hang contributed two portrait paintings of women called ‘Xin Dung’ (Please Don’t) and ‘Trang Diem’ (Make Up).
When Hang started painting, she wanted to capture the beauty of life and her surroundings while also including elements of the contemporary world.
“I am currently focusing on painting portraits and landscapes,” Hang said.

“Before this, I never thought that I would be able to paint portraits.
“The hardest part about painting portraits is always the hands and face.”
Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Luu began painting eight years ago.
Through her art, Luu wants to put emphasis on humans as a subject, women in particular.
“I enjoy painting portraits on silk,” Luu told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
“The most beautiful subjects in my eyes are women and children.
“For me, there is never enough time to paint.”
Previously, artist Luu held many exhibitions solo and in collaboration with other artists.
