Jammu Police issues alert against fake social media account of ADGP

Jammu [India], January 2 (ANI): Jammu Police on Tuesday issued an “alert” against a fake social media account posing as that of additional director general of police, Jammu Anand Jain, according to an official statement.

The matter has been reported to the respective platform for immediate action, it said, adding that this account is not authorized or affiliated with our official Facebook as ADGP Jammu Anand Jain.


“It has come to our attention that there is a fake Facebook official account of Zonal Police Headquarters, Jammu, circulating on social media platforms, posing as ADGP Jammu Anand Jain created by one Ashish Kumar,” as per the statement.

The police also shared the screenshot of the fake account.

As per the statement, the Impostor introduced himself as Commandant CRPF Bantalab as Security Officer, close friend of Anand Jain ADGP Jammu and stated that he has been transferred to Telangana, and wants to sell his household and electronic items which he cannot carry to new place of posting.


The subject offered to sell the said items amounting to Rs 70000 and requested to send amount through Google Pay & Phone Pay Number in the name of Manoj Mishra, it added.

“We want to assure you that this account is not authorized or affiliated with our official Facebook as ADGP Jammu Anand Jain. The inventive screen short of the official Facebook page of ADGP Jammu Zone is attached herewith.” it said.

“We take matters of misinformation and impersonation seriously,” it read,adding that our official social media accounts are official accounts and any communication outside of these channels should be treated with caution.


“Please be vigilant and avoid engaging with any content or messages from the fake account,” It stated.

“We are actively working to address this issue and have reported it to the respective platform for immediate action,” the official statement said.
