Art Fair Features Women-Made Crafts

DULUTH, Minn. — Local artists gathered at the Peace United Church of Christ for the 15th annual Woman-Made art and gift fair organized by Wendy Up North.

Over 20 local women artists had booths at the fair.

Customers had an opportunity to purchase items like Stained glass art, jewelry, pottery, baked goods, and more.

Customers could also connect with the artist to learn more about the stories behind the artwork.

Organizers said this is one of the reasons why an event like this brings the community together.

“The matching of shopper, who care and like to meet the person making the items and finding unique items,” said organizer Wendy Grethen. “It’s fun to really meet the people, meet the artist making the things that someone buys.”

One local artist at the fair, who creates artwork from items she collects from the shores of Lake Superior, spoke about how this event brings together the community of local women artists in the Northland.

“The Woman-Made show I have done a few times as well,” said Artist LeeAnn Ilminen. “It’s a great community of women, many generations of artists. Really inspiring, meeting new people and getting inspiration
on new creative projects, and supporting other women.”
