Ice Spice Reveals Some of The Challenges She Face While Being a Female Artist

Ice Spice had a few more things to get off her chest during her interview with Rolling Stone about how her views have changed since she became an artist.

“I used to judge other artists’ performances,” she stated. “I’d be like, ‘That was awkward. Why the f**k would they do that? Why was she looking there?’”

Now that she’s in the spotlight, Ice says she gets it.

“When you’re doing it yourself, you’re like, ‘OK, this is a lot,’” she said. “There are like 10 different cameras, cues everywhere, and it’s just so much, but it’s fun. At the end of the day, when it’s over, it’s fun.”

She also didn’t hold back on the industry’s deeper issues, like the certain challenges women face while being a female artist.

“We do live in a misogynistic world where it’s like you have to be breathtakingly hot to get certain opportunities,” she pointed out. “I was born as a woman and raised as a woman, so I only know this lifestyle, but I could just imagine how easy it is for guys.”

Ice then opened up about the long hours and intense preparation required for her performances. “I am very jealous when the men on my team get to sleep an extra five f**king hours because they don’t have glam.”

It appears that being a celebrity isn’t all glitz and glamour everyday. Sometimes, things are tough, and you have to push through for the fans.
