UNFK Gives Artists $10,000 for ‘Community Prank’ Mocking Gary Gensler

Meme-powered movement for change UNFK has given away $10,000 in SOL tokens to artists in its first “community unlock,” following a recent meme competition poking fun at U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler.

The “community prank” competition awarded $10,000 in prizes to people for memes that “Give Gensler the Finger” with the hashtag #FireGensler. Judged by NFT collector Cozomo de’ Medici, the competition had such a large turnout that it dominated the hashtag’s search results on Twitter.

The group’s founder Agent Lovelace told Decrypt that the campaign was, “a great way for us to harness the deep anger and frustration that’s out there in a way that channels the creativity and degenerate nature of the crypto community.”

What is UNFK?

UNFK is a “secret-society and crypto game” aiming to promote positive change by putting social pressure on banks and other big institutions using memes and pranks.

At first, this mission took the form of performance art at crypto conferences; UNFK agents gatecrashed Consensus 2024 with a Jamie Dimon impersonator who was led around on a leash by a dominatrix.

UNFK seized the moment, launching a web app to serve as the home for its shenanigans, and following it up with the aforementioned meme competition to get the community’s creative juices flowing. This first campaign kicks off weekly airdrop rewards and $10,000 SOL prizes to agents who earn the most UNFK points.

Beyond the impressive turnout for its “Give Gensler the Finger” competition, the UNFK community has been knocking out milestones listed within the UNFK app as community unlocks.

UNFK agents earn rewards when the community hits milestones, such as reaching a certain number of followers across official UNFK social media channels, or the number of agents who’ve “leveled up” within the UNFK app. UNFK agents who join the community can level up by engaging with UNFK content, participating in competitions, and creating UNFK-related content.

Community unlocks

Since its launch, the UNFK community has completed five community unlocks. Every time the community hits a milestone, it unlocks a prize. After the UNFK community hit 250 members, for example, it unlocked a video titled “Gensler asks for the wifi password at a bank to get the next Bonk airdrop,” featuring a Gary Gensler impersonator, while another community unlock revealed a video titled “Jamie Dimon rubs the balls of the Wall Street bull to kick off the next bull market.”

As the UNFK community grows, members can expect to see more crazy unlock stunts based on the road map of pranks shown in the Community Unlocks section of the web app.

UNFK agents have a lot more to look forward to, with the community’s first game, “Flying Finger,” set to launch this month and more community pranks on the horizon.

While they wait for the next prank, UNFK agents can win a $10,000 weekly prize paid out in Solana’s SOL token, divided amongst the agents who’ve earned the most points each week. Agents can earn points by recruiting other agents, making memes, playing games, and participating in IRL activations.
