Celebrate Emirati Women Through Art at the Four Seasons Abu Dhabi

As a way to honour the women of the UAE, MICHELIN-selected hotel Four Seasons Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island is set to host an art exhibit by local Emirati artist, Faezeh Mohammed Hassan, from August 28, 2024, to September 28, 2024.

Hassan is known for her plein-air art, where she incorporates vibrant colours and dynamic outdoor light scenes that mirror the country’s warmth and happiness through the beauty of its landscapes and traditions. The Emirati artist finds her inspiration from realist German painters, such as Gustave Bauernfeind, Ludwig Deutsch, and Rudolf Hellgrewe, and the unique landmarks of the UAE.

The exhibition, taking place in the hotel’s lobby, is set to showcase a special collection of her works, highlighting the UAE’s cultural heritage and contributions from Emirati women by blending realism and Orientalist art. Through her art, she explores their lifestyles and daily experiences from their past.

One noteworthy piece to look out for is her painting and homage of Emirati poet, Ousha bint Khalifa Al Suwaidi. Known as Ousha Al Sha’er (Ousha the Poet) and Fatat Al-Arab (Girl of the Arabs), the literary legend is most notable for poetic legacy’s instrumental role in the development of the Nabati poetry in the UAE. She is recognised for breaking barriers in the male-dominated field and continues to inspire young female artists in the Arab culture.

During this time, the hotel will also be hosting an Afternoon Tea with pastry creations inspired by Hassan’s artworks. The overall experience is a great way to immerse yourself into local culture and understand how the icons of their past have shaped their future.
