Chalk Festival Returns to Downtown Yakima in Collaboration with Fresh Hop Ale Fest

YAKIMA, Wash. — The Downtown Yakima community announced the return of the Chalk Festival in collaboration with the Fresh Hop Ale Festival in October 2024.

The Chalk Festival will begin on October 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the theme, “Music in Motion”.

The Downtown Association of Yakima said more than 20 artists will be creating chalk murals in reference to this year’s theme. The artists will be competing in a contest to award the artist who best represented the theme.

There will also be chalk provided for the community of all ages to join in and show off some of their skills in Downtown Yakima. Everyone is welcome to create a chalk mural regardless of skill level!

According to the DAY, a new Interactive Zone for Children will be a new edition to this years festival. At this activity kids will learn how to draw musical notes and explore the basics of art and music through engaging, hands-on activities.

More activities available at the event include live music performances, food vendors and craft stalls to provide all-day activities to attendees.

The Downtown Association of Yakima is still searching for skilled artists who are interested in joining the competition; It is also looking for volunteers to help with the event.

For more information or to apply as an artist or volunteer, please contact Breanna Stratton at events@downtownyakima.com.
