During its investor presentation, the company officially announced the launch of the EA Sports app. It will be available for iOS and Android this fall – initially only in Spain. This was reported by The Verge.
EA reports that the app will be “socially oriented” and will feature a news feed, interactive competitions, and community “arenas.” After a soft launch in Spain, the app will have “a mix of sports content, live sports, social messaging and more, centered on Global Football in collaboration with LaLiga.”
EA also states that it plans to add more sports to the app in the future. We can expect American football and hockey to appear. But I wonder if basketball will appear in the app, as 2K owns the rights to NBA games.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson recently said that sports will be one of the things the company will “double down on,” so this new app seems to be part of that effort.
