Finding this one-owner white 1989 Corvette coupe for sale out of the Phoenix, Arizona area on craigslist this week made me think back to the glorious day in the fall of ’88 when my own new Bright Red Corvette rolled down the road on a car hauler past my girlfriend’s (and now wife’s) work.
She excitedly called me (on a landline since cell phones weren’t so common in those days) and blurted out, “I think I just saw your new Corvette going down Highway 41 on the back of the truck!”
Sure enough, it was indeed my car, and I happily picked it up later that day.
There are times when I sometimes wish I had held on to that beautiful red on red ’89, the same way the owner of this white one has done for the past 35+ years.
But over the ensuing decades, it has always been on to newer – and sometimes even older – Corvettes for me.
The abbreviated listing on this white car doesn’t reveal much about it. We do find out it’s a barn find that does not run now after sitting for years. We’re also told it has just 70,000 miles, which is a pretty decent average of about 2,000 miles a year.
Photos would seem to indicate that the tan cloth interior remains in pretty decent shape, and though it’s masked by layers of dust, the paint still appears to be shiny, with no apparent body damage other than a loose lower fender panel that could simply be a result of having to replace the battery to get ready for the sale.
How many of you think it’s a good deal at the current asking price of $5,500?
