OCONOMOWOC — When Kelly Garcia learned that Lori Boldig was looking for someone to take over The Gallori so she could retire, she seized the opportunity.
“When opportunity knocked, I gladly answered,” Garcia said.
Previously, Garcia owned a studio and gallery in West Bend that closed about 15 years ago.
“It had been a long-time dream to have that opportunity again. I recently started selling my paintings at The Gallori and learned of Lori’s retirement,” she said.
While Garcia said she plans to continue offering custom framing and to sell art, the name will change and its look will change a little, too.
“My current business is called Good Day Art & Design, so the new business will continue that theme and is called Good Day Art Gallery,” she said.
Customers can expect to see plants, including dried and fresh flowers, for sale in Good Day Art & Design (Garcia is a former floral designer).
“As an artist, it’s a priority to offer both my own paintings as well as fine art by area artists. Future plans will include art exhibitions and some art classes,” she said.
As a Germantown resident, Garcia said she hadn’t visited downtown Oconomowoc until this year. However, she “absolutely fell in love with its charm and stunning environment.”
She has been involved in the Cedarburg arts community for about two decades and downtown Oconomowoc reminded her of that community. She appreciates the many friendly people who enjoy the walkable community. And as a small business owner, the many events downtown are an exciting aspect of being located there.
