Tom Thomson Art Gallery Unveils Three New Exhibits This Weekend, Celebrates Collaboration With Neurodivergent Artists

Starting this weekend, the Tom Thomson Art Gallery will have three new exhibitions, including a community partner project.

The gallery, in partnership with the Reach Centre Grey Bruce, had put out a public call for local artists who self-identify as neurodivergent to submit their work inspired by the concept of community.

The call was an extension of the quilt project that was completed last year, which saw 150 submissions on small pieces of paper that were stitched together to create a large collaborative depiction of what community looks like.

Creative Pathways celebrates artistic expression and community partnership while highlighting the talent and creativity of neurodivergent artists in the region.

Also opening this weekend is Bonnie Devine’s Land in War. Devine is an educator, writer, and artist whose work is focused on the storytelling and image making traditions of the Anishinaabe culture.

In this exhibition, she reflects on land and how possession and control are the heart of warfare.

The exhibits will be unveiled on Saturday from 2-4 pm with a public reception with a cash bar and light snacks.
