Coldplay’s Moon Music is the fastest-selling album by a British artist this year

Days after release, Coldplay‘s ‘Moon Music‘ has already been named the fastest-selling album by a British act of 2024.

According to Official Charts, the LP shifted 160,000 chart units in 72 hours and is set to earn the biggest week for a British act on the Official Albums Chart since Adele’s ’30’ debuted at No. 1 with 261,000 chart units in 2021.

The feat means the LP looks sure to become the four-piece’s 10th consecutive No. 1 studio album in the UK when the final chart is unveiled on Friday (October 11)

Taylor Swift still holds the record for the fastest-selling album of 2024 so far, with ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ notching up 270,000 chart units in its first week.

‘Moon Music‘ serves as the follow-up to 2022’s ‘Music Of The Spheres’ and features the lead single feelslikeimfallinginlove, out now.

In line with their environmentally conscious ethos, ‘Moon Music‘ will be the first album to be released as a 140g EcoRecord LP, with each copy made from 9 recycled PET-plastic bottles recovered from post-consumer waste, resulting in an 85 per cent reduction in manufacturing process CO2 emissions/kg compared to traditional 140g vinyl.

Meanwhile, CD editions will be the world’s first to be released on EcoCD, created from 90% recycled polycarbonate, sourced from post-consumer waste streams and providing a minimum 78 per cent CO2/kg emission reduction.

‘Moon Music’ is out now and available from AmazonHMVRough TradeTownsend and more.

In support of the album, Coldplay will play a run of major shows throughout summer 2025, launching with two stops at Craven Park Stadium, Hull in August, before heading to London for 10 performances at Wembley Stadium.
