MINA: New immersive art museum opens in Cluj-Napoca

MINA – Museum of Immersive New Art will inaugurate a new permanent space in Cluj-Napoca on November 1st. Housed in a renovated industrial building covering 4,000 square meters, the center features both indoor and outdoor spaces.

The newly renovated building includes an impressive 600-square-meter immersive space—50% larger than the one in Bucharest—along with a special area for new media art installations and a dedicated children’s space.

Co-created by teams from MINA, Le Petit, One Night Gallery, and Cluj-based Form, the museum offers immersive multimedia shows that take visitors on journeys through the worlds of both classical and contemporary artists. Visitors can also enjoy educational experiences that explore distant, mysterious realms such as the cosmos. In addition to the immersive area, MINA Cluj offers a space for emerging and established artists to showcase cutting-edge technological art.

MINA Kids, an interactive play area for children aged 3 to 12, combines fun with learning, encouraging creativity through technology.

“MINA Cluj represents a new chapter in the development of new media art in Romania and beyond,” said the co-founders, expressing their excitement for expanding the MINA concept to a city with rich cultural traditions and innovative audiences. The immersive museum in Bucharest has attracted over 300,000 visitors in just one year, with the traveling MINA Pop-Up project bringing in 60,000 visits in only six months.

With state-of-the-art technology and a variety of immersive shows, MINA reinvents how art is presented to the public, offering a captivating blend of digital exhibitions, sound, and light, creating a unique cultural experience for all ages.
