Pop star claims she makes more money selling feet pics than by music

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

British pop star Lily Allen has some hits to her credit — but she revealed that a certain side hustle seems to be pulling in more money for her.

The “Smile” hitmaker, 39, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, October 25, to clap back at a hater who had some comments for her about some certain photos she was selling on OnlyFans.

After sharing an assortment of photos of her feet and directing followers to her OnlyFans, Allen received a response from a follower, saying “Imagine being one of the biggest pop stars/musicians in Europe and then being reduced to this.”

Allen — known for hits like “LDN,” “The Fear,” and the viral TikTok track “F**k You” — responded, explaining that while she’s still primarily a musician, she’s learned that supplementing one’s income is vital in the industry.

“imagine being and [sic] artist and having nearly 8 million monthly listeners on spotify but earning more money from having 1000 people subscribe to pictures of your feet,” Allen said. “don’t hate the player, hate the game.”

Allen has four albums in her catalog, her most recent being 2018’s No Shame. She is also the mother of two girls — Ethel Mary, 12, and Marnie Rose, 11 — both of whom, she shares with her ex-husband, Sam Cooper.

In a March 2024 episode of the Radio Times podcast, Allen joked that her music career had taken a backseat after having children — with some choice words that were met with controversy.

“My children ruined my career,” Allen joked. “I mean I love them and they complete me, but in terms of pop stardom, totally ruined it.”

She continued, explaining she has no regrets about prioritizing her children.

“I chose stepping back and concentrating on [my children], and I’m glad that I’ve done that because I think they’re fairly well-rounded people,” Allen said, “fingers f**king crossed.”
