Utica, N.Y. — Celebrate the holidays this season with Munson! From the annual Victorian Yuletide exhibition in Fountain Elms to an art market to special performances, Munson has something for everyone to enjoy and get into the holiday spirit.
Beginning Friday, Nov. 29 through Thursday, Jan. 2, a beloved annual tradition returns to Fountain Elms, where period rooms sparkle with Victorian Yuletide cheer. The galleries will feature handmade paper garlands alongside the Museum’s historical furniture and décor. Visitors can take advantage of docent greeters in the galleries Friday, Nov. 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 1, from 1 to 3 p.m. and free guided tours on Saturdays at 2 p.m. to learn how seasonal ornaments inspired by the past fit today’s need for beautiful, affordable, and environmentally friendly design.
To further enjoy Victorian Yuletide, visit Munson’s Holiday Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12. Experience horse-drawn carriage rides, sip hot chocolate and wassail, and taste a variety of holiday cookies, including one made from a historic recipe. This event is a free and non-ticketed event with a suggested admission of $5.
Munson will also host an Art Market in the Museum of Art Root Court from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13. The Market will feature a diverse array of artistic expressions and artisanal goods, creating a festive atmosphere that celebrates the unique talents within our community, including Pratt Munson students. This event is free and open to the public.
