ICYMI: 5 business updates in Bastrop County

From anniversaries to remodels, relocations and more, here are five updates on businesses in Bastrop County.

Frontier Bank Smithville

Frontier Bank of Texas recently expanded into Smithville with the opening of its newest Bastrop County financial institution. The bank offers services including personal, business, loans, mobile banking and bill paying, wealth management and safe deposit boxes, with additional Bastrop County locations including in the cities of Elgin and Bastrop.

Elgin Police Department

Elgin city officials opened the first new city police department in 150 years. The $6 million, 11,500-square-foot facility located in the historic downtown area near the recently renovated Veterans’ Memorial Park is the new home to the 48-person police department and its staff. The former police building, at 202 Depot St., Elgin, will be used for city staff members.

Relocations

Austin Retina

Originally slated to open in spring 2025, Austin Retina spokesperson Pam Shipley said the clinic moved from 1106 College St., Bastrop to 627 Hwy. 71 W., Bastrop—next to Crossroads Animal Hospital—ahead of schedule. Shipley said the move gives them more room, allowing the clinic to treat more patients using cutting-edge technology.

Found Fine Art

Found Fine Art celebrated its first business anniversary Nov. 10 in Bastrop. The gallery is home to a wide variety of paintings, jewelry and sculpted works and hosts community events. Through their artist network, Found Fine Art also facilitates requests for commissioned work.

St. David’s Emergency Center-Bastrop

The emergency room recently underwent renovations with no interruptions to facility operations. Renovations began in August and ended in mid-November. They included interior and exterior cosmetic upgrades, such as work on the building’s brickwork and cabinets inside the emergency center.
