John Marshall, RPS informs parents of possible social media threat

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – In an email to parents, Wednesday night, Rochester Public Schools (RPD) informed parents of a social media post referencing a weapon.

According to the email, the post in question only showed a picture of a gun. It did not contain any specific threats against any individuals or schools.

RPS worked alongside Rochester law enforcement to find the origin of the post.

All that was discovered was a fake account.

The school district stated there is no reason to believe any credible threat exists.

RPS ended the email reassuring parents that it will continue to work with the Rochester Police Department and thanked the many students and parents that reported the post to the school through its Speak Up service.
