The German government will cut off from Elon Musk’s social networking service (SNS) X (formerly Twitter). In other words, he expressed dissatisfaction with Musk, who continues to disagree with the current government in Germany.
The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense decided to exclude X from the official communication window on the 15th (local time), Reuters reported. “We are increasingly dissatisfied with recent changes on the platform,” a German defense ministry spokesman told reporters. “In the future, we can respond to false information through X, but the main channel of public communication will take place through Meta Platforms’ WhatsApp.”
The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs also explained, “It is the result of continuous monitoring of discussions on and around the platform we operate on,” adding, “We have decided to expand our activities on the new platform Blue Sky.” On this day, the German Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not directly refer to Musk. However, Reuters pointed out that this attitude of some German ministries is related to Musk’s recent interference in politics in European countries, including Germany, through X.
Musk has called for the replacement of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer since September last year. He also accused German Chancellor Olaf Scholz of being an “incompetent fool.” He publicly supported the German far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), and aired a live interview with AfD leader Alis Weidel on X.
