Long Beach Art and Artisans Market shines a spotlight on creativity

LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) – A group of creators put homemade items on display for the weekly Long Beach Art and Artisans Market on 3rd Street on Sunday afternoon.

Artists were selling everything from paintings and wood carvings to embroidered pieces of fabric.

Waveland Resident Kathleen Johnson, who has been painting for more than six decades, was one of the artists set up at the market. Johnson said it is a joy to come out and talk to people about her art.

“You spend your entire week in the studio, all by yourself, buried deep into the painting, and then come that weekend or the next festival you get to show people what it is that you believe in because you have to believe in this in order to paint it,” said Johnson.

The art market runs every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Long Beach Town Green.
