Aaron Sorkin is readying some more walk-and-talks through the Capitol, but these might have a different tenor than the ones on The West Wing. He’s currently working on some version of a sequel to his 2010 film about the nascent stages of Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg, The Social Network, according to an interview he gave to Puck’s The Town podcast. This one will be focused on Facebook’s role in the January 6 insurrection. “I’ll be writing about this,” Sorkin said. “I blame Facebook for January 6.” He explained, “Facebook has been, among other things, tuning its algorithm to promote the most divisive material possible, because that is what will increase engagement.” This isn’t the first time Sorkin’s floated the idea of a sequel — in 2020, he said he wanted to look into the “dark side” of Facebook, and that was before the insurrection. While the idea of a sequel to The Social Network is very exciting, our real question is if there will be another role for Brenda Song.
