In an exclusive interview with Clouds FM, Tanzanian musician Alikiba, the CEO of King’s Music Records, threw light on his unique approach to collaborations. Alikiba, renowned for his melodious tunes and immaculate music production, highlighted that he sets the bar high when it comes to working with artists signed under his label.
Alikiba’s Philosophy for Collaboration
Contrary to popular belief, signing with a label owned by an artist as renowned as Alikiba does not automatically open doors for collaboration. It emerged that Alikiba looks for a significant degree of self-awareness and recognition in artists before he considers joining forces with them. He underscored the importance of artists establishing their unique identity and reputation in the fiercely competitive music industry before envisioning a joint venture with him.
Setting Precedents for Collaboration
To put his philosophy of collaboration into perspective, Alikiba drew an analogy of his aspiration to team up with global music icon, Jay Z. He explained that for such an alliance to be worthwhile and meaningful, he would need to attain a comparable level of fame and recognition. His approach to collaborations within his label mirrors this mindset.
King’s Music Records: A New Chapter
Founded by Alikiba in 2020 after his departure from RockStar Africa, King’s Music Records has become a platform that fosters talent while promoting individual growth and recognition. The label houses artists like Tommy Flavour, K2ga, Kusah, Vanillah Music, and Alikiba’s brother AbduKiba, each carving their niche in the music industry.
