The United States continues its open war against TikTok. The arrival of Donald Trump gave a second life to the Chinese social network in the country, but it seems that the intention of the big American companies is to take control of it. That is why Amazon has submitted an offer to take full control of TikTok, according to The New York Times.
Amazon beats deadline and makes offer to buy TikTok
It should be remembered that Saturday, April 5, is the deadline set for the social network to separate from its current Chinese owner or be banned in the whole of the United States. Now the ball is in the court of the social network, which must decide whether to accept this million-dollar proposal or risk continuing to operate without users in the country led by Donald Trump.
The New York Times has also reported that “the offer was made through a letter addressed to US Vice President J.D. Vance and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick”. Even so, sources close to the case point out that the White House and Donald Trump have not taken too seriously the offer made by Jeff Bezos’ company.
For now, Donald Trump met with senior officials in the Oval Office on Wednesday to try to reach an agreement on the future of the social network. It is worth noting that the United States currently has 170 million active TikTok users. Only its country of origin, China, surpasses it.
There are only three days left to know the future of the Asian application in the country of the thirteen stripes. Amazon’s offer is the only one known to date, but other major companies have shown interest in acquiring it, such as Microsoft, Blackstone and Oracle.
