On a quiet night in January each year, the vaulted ceilings of Dublin’s St Patrick’s Cathedral are filled with the sound of female voices, as folk musician Aoife Scott gathers together diverse talents to create musical magic

Every January, something magical happens within Dublin city. Masses of people from all corners start to arrive in the capital to listen to folk and traditional music at TradFest. A light is brought back into the city following the quiet weeks after the New Year, and music starts to echo out of the doorways of venues, churches, pubs and theatres.
Down in the Liberties, as the lamplights are switched on in St Patrick’s Close, people start to gather at the doors of St Patrick’s Cathedral and I can feel the excitement build for one of my favourite nights of the year, the Women of Note concert.
