Are Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae Collaborating on Music?
While neither Morgan nor Tate have officially announced any sort of music collaboration between the two of them, the “We’re Not Alike” singer shared a photo of a bright orange jersey on her Instagram Stories on April 15, 2025. The jersey had “T8” across the front with the initials “MW” on the collar. Plus, the color of the jersey matched the University of Tennessee’s school colors, and Morgan hails from Tennessee himself.
It’s also worth noting that a fan asked Morgan about his upcoming album and his answer revealed another hint that he and Tate have something in the works.
“Please please PLEASE confirm ‘What I Want’ is a duet. You haven’t yet sang with any female artists on any of your first three albums, so PLEASE tell me this is the case,” the person wrote via X on April 9, 2025.
The “Thought You Should Know” artist replied, “Indeed, sir.”
Tate McRae Fans Spoke Out Amid Collaboration Speculation With Morgan Wallen
To put it mildly, Tate’s fans are not happy about her potential collab with Morgan and some have even threatened to boycott her tour.
“I guess I’m not going to her tour,” one X user wrote, while another added, “Just removed all her songs from my playlist.”
A third worried about the effect Morgan might have on Tate’s career and said, “This’ll genuinely completely tarnish her career & she’ll forever be that one artist everyone’s embarrassed to admit they listen to….. this can’t be happening.”
What Did Morgan Wallen Do?
Morgan has had a few less-than-stellar moments since he rose to fame after appearing on The Voice in 2014, including a few arrests. The “Whiskey Glasses” singer was arrested for driving under the influence in January 2016, according to online records from the Davidson County Criminal Court Clerk in Nashville, Tennessee. Six months later, he appeared in court and the case was dismissed.
In May 2020, Morgan found himself being kicked out of Kid Rock’s steakhouse in Nashville, Tennessee, after being disorderly. He was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct, per online records. Both cases were dismissed, according to Today.
Later that same year, Morgan faced backlash from fans when he was seen allegedly violating COVID-19 protocols while partying without a mask. The blowback seemingly led to him being pulled from an upcoming Saturday Night Live lineup at the time.
In February 2021, a video surfaced online of Morgan using a racial slur, and he was later dropped from his record label.
“In the wake of recent events, Big Loud Records has made the decision to suspend Morgan Wallen’s recording contract indefinitely,” the label wrote in a post via X on February 3, 2021. “Republic Records fully supports Big Loud’s decision and agrees such behavior will not be tolerated.”
Morgan issued an apology in response.
“I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back,” he said, per NBC News. “There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”
His legal troubles didn’t end there, and in April 2024, he was arrested after throwing a chair off the rooftop of a bar in Nashville.
“Country artist Morgan Wallen, 30, was booked early today on 3 cts of felony reckless endangerment and 1 ct of misdemeanor disorderly conduct for throwing a chair from the rooftop of Chief’s Bar Sun night,” Metro Nashville Police Department shared in a post on X at the time. “The chair landed on Broadway, close to 2 MNPD officers. His bond: $15,250.”
Morgan pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven days incarceration at a DUI education center and two years’ probation.
One year later, fans were turned off by Morgan’s actions after he appeared on the March 29, 2025, episode of SNL. The “Cowgirls” artist walked off stage early and didn’t hug or shake hands with any of the cast members. He later shared a photo of an airplane on the tarmac and wrote, “Get me to God’s country,” further fueling speculation that he didn’t have a positive experience on the show.
