Bay College celebrates women’s history with art

ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) – Bay College’s Escanaba campus is celebrating women’s history month with exhibitions by female artists.

The annual display is in its 10th year. Bay’s Fine Arts Coordinator Kristine Granger said the event brings female artists together to address the representation of women in the arts.

One exhibit showcases whimsical ceramic art from Keweenaw artist Lindsey Heiden. The second features Caitlyn Swift, a self-portrait artist from Arizona.

“Each of these works in here is a self-portrait,” Granger said. “Each of them develops an idea or concept or emotion that she’s feeling and then she uses herself through that representation.”

The shows have been extended until April 18. The exhibits are free and open to the public during business hours.
