Beatport is the latest company aiming to make it easier for musicians to find collaborators. Its LabelRadar division has launched an ‘Artist Network’ that enables artists and producers to indicate their willingness to collaborate, and find one another based on their genre, country, language and even what DAW [digital audio workstation] they use, as well as their preference for remote, in-person or hybrid projects.
Beatport acquired LabelRadar in 2022, with the latter company having started as a demo-submission service for musicians. It now sits within Beatport’s music services division, and according to the public stats on its website is used by nearly 220,000 artists. That should provide a decent launchpad for the Artist Network to get up and running.
This is part of a wider trend around tools to help musicians connect and collaborate in 2024. Other companies covered by Music Ally in that context this year include Submix, Surf, Indaband, Songbox and Gig Life Pro.
