Bernar Venet Drops First NFTs on Sotheby’s GEN ART

The Sotheby’s GEN ART is ushering spring as Vanet drops the ‘EVENT’ – Venet’s first digital art collection that has ever existed by a visionary French conceptual artist Bernar Venet.

This collection depicts an epitome of Venet’s artistic performance. It features 500 algorithmic artworks that conceptualize the idea of accidental and inconsistent occurrences with digital technology.

Stimulated by his art from the past 60 years of his career, Venet promotes a fresh and exciting prospect called blockchain technology that allows the collectors to mint unique pieces altogether as a result of Venet’s own algorithm.

By combining Venet’s knowledge of sculpture with the languages of science and mathematics, the virtual exhibition implicitly underscores how complex and mysterious the human body and its structures are.

The earlier projects such as “Pile of Coal” (1963) and “Accident” (1996) served as important influences, in which Venet elegantly merged the algorithm with sculpture to take the viewers on an imaginary ride across the trajectory of her creativity.

It clearly points out that this exhibition is the start of a new phase in the artist’s career, which aims at the infinite development and use of new artistic technologies.
