Bird whisperers: Four women artists, four types of art, lots of birds

This show is for the birds.

Susurrations, an absolutely amazing exhibition at the Carnegie Gallery, showcases the work of four women artists: Mita Giacomini, Teresa Seaton, Mary Philpott and Heather Moore. The exhibition’s title evokes the presence of birds through the sounds they make with their feathers, wings and songs. An added attraction is that each artist specializes in a different medium.

Macaw

Heather Moore, “Amazonia — Hyacinth Macaw,” mixed media on canvas.

Waxwing

Teresa Seaton, “Winter Feed, Cedar Waxwing,” made from stained glass, copper foil and wire.

Psychopomp

Mary Philpott, “Psychopomp,” hand-built from earthenware clay.
