CyberConnect rebrands to “Cyber” and launches its first L2 network

Cyber, the first social-focused Layer 2 network, was launched in partnership with AltLayer, Optimism and EigenLayer.

Cyber uses leading modular solutions such as Optimism’s OP Stack and customized infrastructure secured by EigenLayer’s Actively Valued Services (AVS). Cyber will provide easy solutions for social app developers by building purpose-built tools to meet the unique needs of social apps. CyberConnect has also rebranded as Cyber with a new visual identity to celebrate this important launch. In addition, Link3 is also positioned for developer-focused services.

Cyber, which was previously known as CyberConnect, launches the first social networking-focused L2

Cyber, formerly known as CyberConnect, announced the mainnet launch of its L2 network and a rebranded identity. This unifies all of the team’s developer-focused solutions and infrastructure offerings under a single brand around Layer 2, centered around social apps. Cyber aims to simplify app development by providing an all-in-one platform that integrates high-performance infrastructure and purpose-built tools.

Over the last few years, the team behind Cyber has delivered several products that have shaped the web3-based social world, including CyberConnect Protocol, CyberWallet and Link3.
Now they are separating Link3 as an independent brand to focus more on their L2. The rebranded Cyber comes with a completely revamped visual identity that is young, bold and cohesive, expressing the value that social media can bring to a variety of use cases. A commemorative NFT print event is also being organized to celebrate Cyber’s launch and rebranding.

Performance infrastructure with purpose-built features for social media

Deployed by AltLayer using Optimism’s OP Stack, Cyber also joined Superchain, along with several OP Stack L2s such as Base and Mode. By adopting a shared vision, Cyber has committed to giving back a portion of the revenue from its Sequencer to Optimism Collective.

Cyber aims to facilitate the creation of social applications that offer a web2-like experience that users are familiar with, enriched with web3 benefits.

Cyber enables FaceID wallet access for users through familiar authentication methods such as Account Abstraction, Passkey and Webauthn.
Cyber also natively supports Smart Accounts, allowing for gas support, which is seen as critical for increased usage. For developers, Cyber also includes features integrated into L2 by the team to meet the specific needs of social applications. Cyber’s unique infrastructure features include the built-in CyberConnect Protocol and CyberDB. These enable developers to securely and efficiently interact with and store social data.

Over the next month, Cyber is focused on attracting projects and applications that users can get involved with and use. For this, $2 million has been allocated to developers. In the pilot phase of the program, called Ecosystem Grants, $170,000 worth of CYBER was distributed. Additional rounds of grants will be made in the coming period. Cyber invites developers who are developing innovative social applications and infrastructures to join its ecosystem. Those who want to develop projects on Cyber can review the Developer Documentation.
