After successful projects with artists like Tyler the Creator and K-POP star Jennie, Grammy award-winning artist Doechii has a UK legend in mind as her next musical collaborator
So far, 2025 is shaping up to be the year of Doechii. This past month alone the artist had a phenomenal Grammy Awards debut, defined by an incredible performance, three nominations and win which saw her become only the third woman to ever win Best Rap Album of the Year.
Off the back of two viral performances — one on NPR’s Tiny Desk and the other alongside Issa Rae for Genius Open Mic — Doechii made headlines again with the release of her rompy sitcom music video for “Denial Is A River” and the resurfaced clips of her documenting her rocky and real pursuit of music.
It’s hard to predict what fans can expect next from the artist that seems to move a million miles a minute, but she teased fans with a potential collaboration earlier this week.

Doechii dropped a hint that there may be something in the works between her and a UK female rap phenom. In a recent on-air interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, Doechii expressed her love and admiration for the UK rapper, Little Simz. “I would love to collaborate with Little Simz…She is phenomenal!…Phenomenal!” Doechii exclaimed.
UK fans were delighted by Doechii’s enthusiasm for the North London rapper, whose introspective edge and heightened musicality enabled her widespread success from a young age.
Host Remi Burgz questioned Doechii about the likelihood of a collaboration between the two rap powerhouses: “Is this something that you guys have spoken about already? Or is this just one of your manifestations?”
“We speak…I can’t say what we’ve spoken about but we speak.” Doechii shared coyly before bursting into big laughs. But the vague response was enough to set listeners alight with anticipation. One fan took to X to share their excitement, writing: “The 2 best female rappers right now together? I’m so in.”
“This would be crazyyyy. Specifically rapping over a soul sample beat,” another put, while a third typed: “A Doechii/Little Simz collaboration? Yes, that’s exactly what I want.”
Though carving out completely distinct aesthetics and sounds, both rappers have become synonymous with pushing the bounds of creativity in rap and hip-hop, both through their music videos and sounds.
A collaboration seems perfectly primed for this summer, as both artists will be performing at major festivals in London. Doechii will be performing at the All Points East festival in August, alongside RAYE and Tyla, while Little Simz will be the youngest artist to ever curate London’s iconic Meltdown festival.
Meltdown is the country’s longest-running artist-curated music festival and will celebrate its 30th anniversary this summer. The festival line-up will be announced later this spring, so perhaps we’ll see Doechii on the list.
