Downtown Bangor Partnership receives funding to market the arts

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Bangor’s art offerings are getting a marketing boost!

The Downtown Bangor Partnership has been granted funds from the Maine Office of Tourism.

The Maine Tourism Marketing Partnership Program offers grants to assist with marketing to stimulate Maine’s travel and tourism economy.

In addition to having Bangor arts and culture advertisements added to tourism brochures, the partnership has launched the Bangor Culture And Arts Collective website.

In a city with a professional theatre company, murals, and other arts offerings, folks downtown say this will help get the word out.

“We have so much more arts and culture here than a community of this size normally has, and unfortunately, not everybody recognizes and knows about it, especially within the tourism community and arts and culture tourism is a huge industry. And we wanted to take an opportunity to put Bangor on the arts and culture tourism stage and help draw people who are looking for authentic experiences to Bangor to see everything that we have to offer,” said Betsy Lundy, Downtown Bangor Partnership executive director.
