EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The El Paso Museum of Art is inviting the community to witness their latest exhibit, which they are calling “a beautiful mess.”
“Beautiful Mess: Weavers and Knotters of the Vanguard” is a new all-women artist exhibition that features artwork made out of rope, yarn, clay, and wire that has been weaved together and tied into knots and made into sculptures.
According to the museum, the sculptures– which range from the size of your hand to room-sized installations– “explore personal and political ideals—order and chaos to the extreme—and freely break the rules to create beautiful artworks.”

The exhibition opens May 23 and will run until August.
To celebrate the opening the museum will host a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. and will also feature a co-weaving project organized by El Paso artist Cynthia Gutierrez-Krapp that is meant to bring attendees together to tell the story of El Paso.
Additionally, mini-looms will feature touchable fiber displays that encourage visitors to interact with the art.
