Exhibition at Dayton Metro Library features works of Jen Perkins

Perkins is a 2023 Artist Opportunity Grantee.

Culture Works said the exhibition coming to Dayton Metro Library will feature the plaster reliefs created from Perkins’ designs.

Artist Maggie Ross created marble pieces based on Perkins’ drawings. She then sent Perkins molds from Greece and Perkins recast them locally.

Perkins made multiples and painted them using egg tempera and encaustic, she said.

Also on display will be photographs of the original marble pieces. On Jan. 13, Perkins will be participating in a simulcast artist talk with Ross.

The library describes it as this:

Please join Culture Works Grant Winner Jennifer Perkins as she describes the artistic process and style of creating plaster reliefs. This Multi-disciplinary, Trans-Atlantic, Collaboration will be a special event with the art group from Greece featuring artist Maggie Ross. During this exclusive event, Perkins and Ross will delve into a captivating discussion surrounding their works showcased in the “Time Passages” exhibition. Prepare to gain valuable insights into their artistic processes, the materials they employ, and the historical and inspirational elements that shape their creations.
