Running through May 25, RAD Art Fair gathers 28 galleries from five countries — Romania, Austria, Belgium, Germany, and Poland — and presents works by more than 120 artists. Over the next four days, CARO transforms into a vibrant cultural arena offering exhibitions, installations, talks, workshops, and citywide artistic interventions.
Described by its founders as more than just a marketplace for art, RAD Art Fair has evolved into a broad cultural platform for exchange and critical reflection. “RAD is a meeting point for artists, curators, collectors, institutions, and independent spaces,” said co-directors Catinca Tăbăcaru and Daniela Pălimariu. “It’s a professional, transparent platform dedicated to presenting contemporary art in all its complexity — and to fostering collaboration and interdisciplinary dialogue.”
A fair that redefines the contemporary art experience
RAD 2025 features a rich program that includes RAD Talks, a Curatorial Symposium with 30 international participants, collectible design showcases, and a sprawling sculpture park set across 5,000 square meters of CARO’s gardens. The fair is open daily from 12 PM to 8 PM.
In addition to the central fair venue, RAD extends its footprint across Bucharest through partnerships with local cultural spaces, creating a citywide celebration of contemporary creativity. The full program is available at www.radartfair.com.
Championing emerging voices and new collectors
This year’s edition introduces PLATFORM, a new section dedicated to emerging galleries and curatorial initiatives. With participants from Bucharest, Craiova, Timișoara, and Chișinău, PLATFORM supports the next generation of art professionals through mentorship and visibility.
RAD also aims to cultivate a new generation of collectors, offering a carefully curated selection of accessible contemporary artworks. “With strong curatorial vision and a diversity of artistic mediums, RAD is becoming a key space for cultural exploration and investment in Romania,” the organizers note.
Institutional recognition and artist support
In a significant move for Romania’s cultural infrastructure, RAD 2025 will launch a Romanian Art Market Report, developed in collaboration with Deloitte Romania. The report promises a data-driven overview of the country’s evolving art ecosystem — a landmark initiative for transparency and growth.
The fair also continues its awards and acquisition program, offering purchase prizes through partnerships with Banca Transilvania, MNAC, MARe, RUS Collection, and others. Winning works will enter permanent collections, supporting both visibility and financial sustainability for participating artists.
A global dialogue on the role of art today
Running alongside the fair is a five-day International Curatorial Symposium, gathering 30 art professionals from 18 countries. Centered on the metaphor of the “knot,” the symposium explores how curators can navigate geopolitical tensions, ecological anxieties, and societal polarization.
RAD Design and the power of object encounters
This year’s RAD Design exhibition, Dormant Dialogues, curated by Anda Zota and Elena Viziteu (AÉ02), investigates the interplay between form and function. Featuring ten collectible objects that “come to life” through interaction, the show invites viewers to reflect on the personal and emotional relationships we develop with everyday design.
Open to the public — and to the future
As part of its accessibility mission, RAD Art Fair 2025 offers free admission on Friday, May 23, to all students presenting valid academic ID. It’s a clear investment in the next generation of cultural audiences, and in the belief that contemporary art should speak to — and be shaped by — young minds.
With growing international relevance and deep roots in the Romanian cultural scene, RAD Art Fair 2025 positions itself not just as a fair, but as a movement — one that is reimagining what contemporary art can be and who it is for.
