Job Overview
As the Art Director, you will be responsible for leading the visual direction of the label’s brand and artist imagery. You’ll work closely with artists, designers, marketing teams, and photographers to create visually compelling artwork for album covers, promotional materials, merchandise, and digital assets. Your creative vision will play a crucial role in shaping the label’s identity and driving the brand’s aesthetic across multiple platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Visual Strategy & Concept Development: Develop creative concepts for album covers, singles, merchandise, promotional materials, and social media content that align with the artists’ vision and label’s brand identity.
- Collaborative Design: Lead the design and execution of high-quality visuals, ensuring consistency and artistic integrity. Collaborate with artists, photographers, graphic designers, videographers, and other creative professionals to produce innovative and engaging artwork.
- Brand Identity: Maintain and evolve the visual identity of the label and its roster of artists, ensuring all materials reflect a cohesive and modern aesthetic.
- Creative Direction for Photoshoots & Video Projects: Oversee the art direction for photoshoots, music videos, and other visual media. Guide stylists, photographers, and videographers to achieve the desired look and feel for campaigns.
- Project Management: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within budget. Oversee the production process from concept to final product, including print and digital assets.
- Trend Awareness: Stay up-to-date with design trends, visual storytelling, and digital media innovations in the music industry, ensuring the label’s materials are fresh and impactful.
- Marketing Collateral: Work with the marketing team to create promotional assets such as social media graphics, email templates, posters, flyers, and event branding.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Art Director or Senior Designer, ideally within the music industry, entertainment, or a related creative field.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design work, including album artwork, digital assets, branding, and promotional materials.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), and familiarity with video editing software is a plus (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
- A keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and how visual content translates to different digital formats.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including artists, managers, and marketing professionals.
- Experience in managing creative projects and leading teams, with a focus on meeting deadlines and exceeding expectations.
- A passion for music and a solid understanding of current music trends and visual culture.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- Experience with motion graphics or video production.
- A personal interest in or knowledge of the music industry.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
