Fargo Police investigation of social media threat leads to two arrests

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A Fargo Police Department (FPD) investigation of a social media threat involving Ben Franklin Middle School has led to the arrest of two minors.

The threat originally appeared on social media and was reported to FPD at 9:47 p.m. on Thursday, September 12. FPD investigators immediately launched an investigation that continued into Friday night, ending with the arrest of two 13-year-olds for terrorizing.

When officers located one of the juveniles away from the school, one was in possession of a BB gun. As a result, that juvenile was also arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.

FPD says no further information is available at this time since the case is still under investigation. The investigation was completed in collaboration with Fargo Public Schools, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Metro Area Street Crimes Unit.

FPD wants people in the community to know the department takes threats of this nature very seriously and they will investigate to the fullest extent. Adding that all perpetrators will face consequences in the criminal justice system.
