First-gen student turns art into business

When Alyssa Crane arrives this month for her first semester at UNC-Chapel Hill, she’ll already have a wealth of business experience. 

Crane, a first-generation student from Wilson, turned her passion for art into a business selling paintings and jewelry. She sold her first piece in 2020 and grew the business from there.
