Ludhiana: Samrala Police booked unidentified persons on the complaint of Satvir Singh Sejhon, former senior vice-president of Samrala MC for posting derogatory remarks on social media by creating fake profiles in his name. Police found eight such pages and wrote to Facebook to delete the pages and accounts.
Sekhon said that he noticed that someone had made a fake account in his name on Facebook and was making derogatory comments on social networking sites, besides demanding money from people. He also identified 16 other pages and accounts spreading fake information and provoking people, threatening law and order, he said.
Samrala Police lodged an FIR against operators of eight pages and accounts – including Chacha Vakkhipad, Samrala Machhiwara, Rajniti Samrala Halka, Samrale aala Najar, Satvir Singh, Jugadi Laana and Param Kooner. Inspector Bhinder Singh, who is investigating the case, said that an FIR was registered under sections 66C of Information and Technology act and Section 420 (cheating) of the IPC against the accused.
