CHADWICKS, N.Y. — The former Word of Life Church building in Chadwicks has officially been sold.
According to the listing on Pavia Real Estate, the deal is finalized.
John Jweid, the Pavia realtor who facilitated the sale, said that the new owner is from New York, though not from our immediate area.
Jweid said that the new owners intend to transform the building into an art and music studio, and they plan to renovate the entire space while residing there.
He also said the property had been on the market for three years.
Although it sold in June, the closing took place last week.
Previously known as the Word of Life Church, it was the site of an incident in 2015 when two young church members were beaten.
The victims were brothers. 19-year-old Lucas Leonard lost his life, while 17-year-old Christopher Leonard suffered severe injuries.
Several individuals, including their parents and sister, were convicted and have since been released.
The father of the victims of the tragic beatings at the Word of Life Church was released from state prison in Marcy on Thursday.
The father convicted in connection with the beatings of his teenage sons, which resulted in the death of one at Word of Life Church almost ten years ago, is scheduled to be released from prison on Thursday.
A large police presence at the former Word of Life Church in Chadwicks could be seen this morning.
